Salvador Sobral returns to Spotify. "A Goliath too strong to face alone"

Salvador Sobral is going to make his albums available again on the streaming platform Spotify, after having removed them in February. The Portuguese musician announced the decision in a video shared on social media, explaining that he needs to "reach people" and "sell tickets" for concerts, describing the platform as "a Goliath too strong to face alone". The new single "A flor do recomeço", a preview of the album with the same name expected in October, will also be available on Spotify.

In February, Salvador Sobral had removed all his albums from Spotify because he considers it "the streaming platform that pays authors the worst", with about 0.003 cents per stream. The musician also cited as reasons the promotion of music created by artificial intelligence, the investment by executive director Daniel Ek in the European defense artificial intelligence company Helsing through his company Prima Materia, and the broadcasting of recruitment ads for the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement, responsible for violent anti-immigration operations.

The musician tried to appeal to a collective boycott among colleagues and the public, but revealed he was left alone in this effort. "I thought utopically that I could appeal to it being a collective boycott of colleagues, musicians, the public. But I went at it with everything and when I looked back there was no one there," he said. Despite his return, Salvador Sobral guarantees that his principles remain the same and that he will continue to boycott as a user, preferring the Qobuz platform.

The new album "A flor do recomeço", Salvador Sobral's first record with exclusively Brazilian compositions, features songs by musicians such as Adriana Calcanhotto, Arnaldo Antunes, Chico César, Céu, Marcelo Camelo, Mallu Magalhães, Marcos Valle and Tim Bernardes. The album was recorded in São Paulo with a band of Brazilian musicians and produced by Marcus Preto and Tó Brandileone, with release scheduled for October by Warner Music Portugal.
