The two PL candidates for Senate from Rio de Janeiro, Carlos Jordy and Carlos Portinho, acted together in the debate promoted by OAB-RJ and the newspaper O Dia on this Tuesday. The fellow party members concentrated their attacks on Pedro Paulo (PSD), candidate from the current mayor Eduardo Paes's ticket, who was absent from the meeting.
In a segment about violence against women, Portinho directed the question to his party colleague about whether "a man who hits a woman deserves a vote," taking the opportunity to attack the adversary. Jordy then stated that it is unacceptable that a candidate for the Federal Senate tries to make voters forget his past.
The PL candidate declared that Pedro Paulo should be present at the debate to give explanations and present his own version of the facts. Jordy classified the adversary's absence as cowardice, reinforcing the strategy of the ticket to pressure the absent candidate.
