Minister Alexandre de Moraes, from the Supreme Federal Court, determined that the seized weapons from former President Jair Bolsonaro be sent to the Brazilian Army for destruction or donation to public security agencies or the Armed Forces. The order is part of the measures taken after the maintenance of the former executive chief's house arrest.
The determination ordered the Federal Police to send six weapons, including pistols and shotguns, to the Army Police Battalion Command in Brasília. The only exception was a pistol seized during a police checkpoint in the Federal District, which is not included in the order.
The measure comes after the revocation of Bolsonaro's weapon permit, determined when Moraes extended the former president's humanitarian house arrest. The minister had also ordered Bolsonaro's defense to hand over all weapons registered in his name.
After the court order, Bolsonaro's lawyers reported that six of the eight weapons were in their possession and were handed over to the competent authorities.
