The United States Postal Service continues to implement a new digital system to oversee mail-in votes, despite a court order having determined the suspension of the plan. The complaint was made by an employee of the agency itself, who stated that the process is being conducted in a "secretive and rushed" manner.
The report, published by the office of Democratic Senator Richard Blumenthal, states that the "risky and disorderly" implementation of President Donald Trump's order to expand federal control over mail-in voting could cause a "catastrophic failure" in the electoral system, putting millions of votes at risk before this year's midterm elections.
According to the document, the agency planned to complete by September 1st the new digital system responsible for overseeing votes sent by mail, which could compromise the integrity of the electoral process.
