Minister Dias Toffoli, from the Superior Electoral Court, made a decision that temporarily restricted the campaign of Renan Santos (Missão), candidate for President of the Republic, vetoing his participation in radio and television debates, his access to electoral fund funds, and his propaganda on social media profiles not informed to the Court at the time of the candidacy registration. Toffoli assessed with interlocutors that it would not be necessary to submit this decision to the scrutiny of the Court's plenary, considering that the dispatch would not constitute a preliminary injunction decision.
However, Toffoli's interpretation has already opened divergences at the TSE. A faction of ministers considers that the dispatch needs to be ratified or overturned by the collegiate body, meaning that the decision must go through analysis by the full court. Missão's lawyers are expected to have meetings on Tuesday with Toffoli and with the Court president, Kassio Nunes Marques, to address the topic.
