Aston Villa raised around 345 million euros (R$ 2.07 billion) from player sales during the transfer window, months after winning their first title in 30 years. The English club used much of this money to completely rebuild the squad under manager Unai Emery.

The last signing brought in by Villa was Ibrahim Mbaye, an 18-year-old Senegalese prospect, acquired from Paris Saint-Germain for 55 million euros (R$ 330 million). The club from Birmingham officially announced the arrival of the striker on Tuesday.

Villa had been monitoring Mbaye since January, but a transfer did not progress at that time. The English club returned with offers months later, which were initially rejected. After a failed negotiation for Rafael Leão, talks were resumed and an agreement was reached on Friday.
