Souffian El Karouani arrived in Lisbon on Sunday and should be announced as a Benfica signing in the coming hours. The player spoke to BTV, the club's official channel, during his trip to the Portuguese capital.
The 23-year-old left-back will compete directly with Samuel Dahl for the left-back position at Benfica. The Swede has been the regular starter in the position, but El Karouani's arrival will bring competition to the sector.
According to reports, El Karouani had no space at his previous club in Saudi Arabia, which is said to have accelerated his transfer to the red and whites. The player was linked to Saudi football and needed a new challenge.
