As of September 1st, the rules for TVDE (Passenger Transport Vehicles with Driver) came into effect with new changes. The main novelty is that taxis can now integrate TVDE platforms, something that was not previously allowed.
The new rules will affect both drivers and users of these transport platforms. Among the implemented changes is the requirement that professionals demonstrate mastery of the Portuguese language in carrying out their activity.
This legislation represents a significant change in the passenger transport sector in Portugal, by allowing the convergence of two services that previously operated separately. Taxis will thus be able to compete directly with traditional TVDE operators through the same digital platforms.
