The anthropologist and writer Michel Alcoforado, a 39-year-old from Rio de Janeiro, makes his theater debut with the show "Coisa de rico: outras histórias," based on his 2025 sensation book "Coisa de rico," which sold almost 200,000 copies. Alcoforado assures he is not an actor and sought in the show-lecture form, popularized by Ariano Suassuna from the 1970s onward, a reference to find himself on stage.
After performing in São Paulo with sold-out tickets, the production opens its Rio season today, at 8 PM, at Teatro Axia Casa Grande. Batman Zavareze signs the artistic direction of the show.
In the show, Alcoforado dramatizes unpublished stories from "Coisa de rico" and deepens anthropological concepts already explored in the book. The idea, according to him, is to take advantage of the border between the lecture and the show to make a deep immersion in anthropology.
