Former gang leader Duane "Keffe D" Davis was found guilty on Monday by a Las Vegas court for the 1996 murder of famous rapper Tupac Shakur. Thirty years after the death of the rap legend in Las Vegas, the jury found Davis, 63, guilty of homicide after just a few hours of deliberation. He could be sentenced to life in prison without possibility of parole.

At the time of the crime, Davis led the South Side Compton Crips gang, which controlled parts of Los Angeles in the 1990s. According to the prosecution, he allegedly ordered the killing after his nephew was assaulted by members of the artist's entourage, also known as 2Pac, at a Las Vegas casino.

Prosecutor Binu Palani stated that, in gang culture, Davis could not let the assault on his nephew go unanswered. The case took three decades to reach a conviction, after multiple investigations and changes in the understanding of the events surrounding the rapper's death.
