Santos, who was formerly a Republican congressman, was discovered making false statements to the platform's traders about his presence at the event. Kalshi offers prediction markets where users can bet on events such as the participation of political figures in important speeches.
The permanent ban means Santos will no longer be able to use the platform in any way in the future. The discovery of the lie about the State of the Union address was the trigger for this extreme punishment.
George Santos had already faced previous controversies, including scandals about falsifying his biography and personal history during his electoral campaign for the United States Congress.
