The Lisbon City Council immediately suspended the operation of Carris' historic equipment after the accident, ordering inspections to be carried out.

The inspections of the Bica and Lavra funiculars, as well as the Santa Justa elevator, are still ongoing at the time the news is reported.

The affected equipment is part of Carris' historical heritage, Lisbon's public transport company.
