The Portuguese economy accelerated in the second quarter of 2026, with Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growing 2.5% year-on-year. The figure was confirmed by the National Statistics Institute (INE), which revealed that this growth represents an acceleration compared to the previous quarter.
Portuguese GDP in the period between April and June 2026 showed a more favorable evolution of economic activity, surpassing the performance of the first quarter of the year. This acceleration of 0.1 percentage points compared to the 2.4% recorded between January and March demonstrates a trajectory of sustained growth of the Portuguese economy.
The National Statistics Institute, as the entity responsible for the production and dissemination of official statistics in Portugal, officially confirmed this data which reflects the dynamism of economic activity in the country during the second quarter of 2026.
