Family on jet ski robbed in Guanabara Bay; reports point to other possible thefts in the region

A family was robbed by an armed man while riding a jet ski through Guanabara Bay on Sunday afternoon (30). The crime occurred near Forte Lage, in the middle of the bay, between Praia de Adão and Eva, in Niterói, and Praia do Flamengo, in Rio de Janeiro.

The Civil Police confirmed the case was registered at the 79th Police Station (Jurujuba) and subsequently forwarded to the 9th Police Station (Catete), responsible for investigating the incident.

Business owner Fernando Barbosa, who works with boat and jet ski rentals, stated he had spoken with one of the victims and received reports from other navigators about possible robberies in the area. He posted an alert on social media urging anyone navigating Guanabara Bay to be extra careful and avoid suspicious approaches.
