Nvidia invests 3 billion in Taiwanese chip manufacturer. It is the largest investment outside the USA

Jornal de Negócios31 August 2026 at 22:30

Nvidia invested three billion euros in a Taiwanese chip manufacturer, in a deal that represents the largest investment by the company outside the United States. The significant value reflects the strategy of the American technology giant to reinforce its presence in the global semiconductor market.

The investment expands the existing partnership between Nvidia and MediaTek, another Taiwanese company in the technology sector. This collaboration aims to develop new technological platforms that combine the expertise of both companies in chip manufacturing.

Nvidia's CEO, Jensen Huang, commented on the agreement stating that both companies are building platforms that bring Nvidia's advanced computing to new markets. The partnership allows MediaTek to benefit from Nvidia's cutting-edge technology, while it expands its reach beyond its traditional markets.
