Nepalese authorities are using controlled explosions to try to reach workers trapped in underground tunnels, in a rescue operation following a catastrophe that affected hydroelectric power plants in the country.
Rescuers are using these explosions as a method to remove debris and open paths through the tunnels where workers are believed to be trapped, attempting to establish contact with survivors.
An estimated 639 workers from hydroelectric power plants remain missing after the incident. Of this total, approximately 500 are believed to be trapped in tunnels and other underground areas of the affected facilities.
