Flamengo is preparing the announcement of Gonzalo Plata's replacement. The red-and-black club has already completed the medical exams with Ecuadorian striker Anthony Valencia, 23 years old, who played for Royal Antwerp, in Belgium, and will cost approximately R$ 30 million. The new signing arrived in Rio on Sunday night and already trained at Ninho do Urubu this Monday.

In addition to Valencia, Flamengo is also preparing to confirm the signing of another striker, Joaquín Freitas, from River Plate, who arrived later and is still finalizing the paperwork. He will cost R$ 40 million. Both signings will be paid over three years with the money from Plata's sale, who left for Dinamo Moscow for R$ 70 million upfront.

Anthony Valencia was revealed by Independiente del Valle and made his professional debut in 2022, the same year he was sold to Royal Antwerp, in Belgium. For the Belgian club, he played 84 matches and scored 13 goals. The player was part of Ecuador's squad at the 2026 World Cup, held in the United States, Mexico, and Canada, but never entered the field during the tournament.
