Singer Lionel Richie, 77, was admitted to an intensive care unit (ICU) in St. Louis, Missouri, in the United States, after feeling ill during a show last Saturday. According to the TMZ website, the artist went to a hospital on his own, and doctors are investigating the possibility of mild dehydration as the cause of the discomfort.
Richie performed at The Muny, in Forest Park, and, according to witnesses heard by TMZ, showed difficulties at the end of the show. During the last song on the setlist, "All Night Long," he asked his team to bring a chair so he could continue singing sitting down.
Sources told TMZ that the singer is being cautious about his health, and the expectation is that he will be discharged on Tuesday. As of the publication of this report, Lionel Richie's representatives had not made an official statement about the case.
