The legal advisor of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Giovanni Tartaglia Polcini, stated during the Fiesp Public Security Congress that the Primeiro Comando Capital (PCC) would be classified as a mafia under Italian legislation, as would European transnational groups such as the 'Ndrangheta. The comparison was made this Monday (31) at an event held at the Federation of Industries of the State of São Paulo.
Polcini made a parallel between the Italian experience in fighting mafias and the PCC, highlighting that the Brazilian group presents characteristics similar to European criminal organizations. The event brought together experts to discuss public security strategies.
The Italian representative emphasized the need for the private sector to actively participate in confronting criminal groups in order to avoid criminal infiltration in the formal economy. According to him, the state is slow in understanding how much it is necessary to work together.
Polcini clarified that the private sector should not replace the public power, but play its role in a vigilant and collaborative manner. Each sector has a specific role in the fight against organized crime.
