The European Commission decided to apply its strictest digital security and supervision rules to ChatGPT, Reddit and Roblox. This measure places these tech giants under direct surveillance from Brussels.
The three platforms were classified as very large network services, which implies compliance with stricter obligations regarding risk management, data protection and algorithmic transparency.
The companies now face regular inspections and audits by European authorities, as well as the obligation to implement concrete measures to protect users.
In case of non-compliance, fines can be extremely high, potentially reaching significant percentage values of the companies' global turnover. This decision is part of a broader effort by the European Union to regulate the digital space.
