A group of orcas attacked a sailboat in the Rías Baixas, on the Galician coast. This was the second incident in just 48 hours involving a group of orcas with a sailboat on the coasts of Galicia. The attack occurred in the ría de Vigo.
The orcas involved in the attack belong to a family known in the area. It is common to spot them when they cross to the Cíes or to the island of Ons, being a resident group in these waters.
This type of interaction between orcas and sailboats has become increasingly frequent. According to the article, there are more and more orcas on the Galician coasts, which may explain the increase in these encounters.
