Gabriel Jesus arrived in Spain this Monday to undergo medical tests and finalize the necessary paperwork before signing his contract with Barcelona. The official announcement from the Catalan club is expected on Tuesday afternoon. The Brazilian striker will sign a three-season contract with the team.
The clubs reached an agreement in the final stretch of the transfer window for 10 million euros, plus bonuses that can reach 4 million euros. Gabriel Jesus has a contract with Arsenal until June 2027, but he lost his place in the English team. The player was left out of training with the squad last week and was not called up for the first official matches of the season.
In search of more playing opportunities, Gabriel Jesus received Barcelona's proposal, and the club moved quickly in negotiations over the past few days. Unable to secure a deal for Julián Álvarez, who was not released by Atlético de Madrid, the Catalan club chose the Brazilian as their number 9 option. The team had already lost Robert Lewandowski and Ferran Torres to injuries.
