Journalist Carlos Monforte died this Monday, at the age of 77. With a career of more than four decades in journalism, he was marked as one of the first anchors of Brazilian television journalism. The cause of death has not yet been disclosed, and the information was confirmed by GloboNews.
Monforte began his professional career at the newspaper A Tribuna, in Santos, before graduating in Journalism in 1972. After graduation, he worked as a special reporter for the newspaper O Estado de S. Paulo and completed professional development courses in Spain and France.
He joined Globo in 1978, as a reporter in São Paulo, and participated in important coverage, such as the strikes of metalworkers in the ABC region. In 1982, he took over the Politics editorship of Jornal da Globo and began presenting Bom Dia São Paulo.
The following year, in 1983, Monforte became editor-in-chief and presenter of the first edition of Bom Dia Brasil, a position he held for nine years.
