A 70-year-old man was arrested by the SEPNA of Matosinhos after being caught illegally hunting on non-hunting land in the municipality of Vila do Conde. The operation took place on August 30, during an environmental inspection aimed at strengthening control over protection zones essential for the preservation of local wildlife.
According to the GNR, the suspect was hunting in a prohibited area, endangering protected species and the balance of ecosystems. The intervention resulted in the seizure of a hunting weapon, three rounds of ammunition, a manifest booklet and the respective hunter's license.
The man was arrested and made a formal defendant, with the case referred to the Investigation and Criminal Action Department of Vila do Conde. The police force reinforces that strict compliance with hunting rules is essential to ensure biodiversity conservation and public safety.
