A spherical titanium tank: the innovation with which Porsche created its lightest car

On September 8, 1968, during the European Hill Climb Championship event on Mount Gaisberg, in Salzburg, Porsche presented the 909 Bergspyder, the lightest racing car in its history. This vehicle was developed as a test bench for extreme weight reduction, after the brand had secured the title with the 910/8 Bergspyder. The car measured 3.48 meters in length, 1.80 meters in width and only 75 centimeters in height, weighing on the scale only 400 kilograms.
