The GNR detained nine people for driving without a legal licence in the district of Santarém, during the week of 24 to 30 August, as part of the operational activity carried out by the Territorial Command of Santarém. This was the second main cause of detentions during the period in question, only behind driving under the influence of alcohol, which resulted in 17 detentions.
In total, 35 detentions were recorded during this week, which also included four detentions for possession or trafficking of prohibited weapons, three for disobedience, one for resistance and coercion against an official, and another for threats and coercion.
Within the scope of road traffic enforcement, the GNR detected 639 offences. The lack of mandatory periodic inspection was the most recorded offence, with 96 cases, followed by speeding, with 47, and the stowage and disposition of cargo, with 39. A further 35 offences were recorded for improper use of mobile phones while driving and 32 for lack of lighting and signalling.
