Youth Pastoral: National Department challenges animators to leave "usual places"

Agência ECCLESIA31 August 2026 at 11:29

The National Department of Youth Pastoral (DNPJ), an organism of the Portuguese Bishops' Conference, announced the holding of a training journey for Catholic animators, between September 25 and 27, under the central theme "Peripheries and Dreams – Listening to realities, opening paths". The initiative, promoted under the brand "Formação à Vista" (Training in Sight), aims to challenge participants to leave their "usual places" and listen to the concerns of new generations.

The event's presentation document emphasizes that "going to the peripheries means leaving usual places, getting closer to those we do not always find in our spaces, and giving space to other voices". The organism invites each community to take on the "courage to dream", believing that "it is possible to do differently" to "renew the way we live the evangelizing mission".

The three days of encounter aim to deepen knowledge about leadership and communication to discover "languages capable of creating bridges and bringing the Church closer" to youth. The formative itinerary also includes a reflection on the diversity of youth contexts, alerting to the need to "seek pastoral responses that are closer and more meaningful".

Registrations for pastoral agents interested in "transforming dreams into paths and action" opened on Tuesday through the DNPJ's official website.
