A passenger was arrested at Lisbon Airport after arriving on a flight from Rio de Janeiro carrying more than 20 kilos of drugs hidden in kitchen utensils. The suspect was selected for further inspection after customs authorities detected inconsistencies in the statements made during the routine procedures.

During the control procedures, the officers from the Public Security Police found the drugs concealed in pots, serving dishes and wooden spoons. The amount seized, exceeding 20 kilos, represents one of the largest drug seizures in checked luggage recorded recently at that airport.

The passenger was brought before the competent judicial authorities for the first interrogation, where he was subject to coercive measures. The authorities did not reveal the exact nature of the substance seized, nor other details about the suspect's identity or any possible accomplices.
