Passengers traveling by ferry between the United Kingdom and Ireland will face stricter identification rules from September 28. From that date, a valid passport will be required to cross the border between the two countries.
Travelers who were previously able to use other identification documents for these sea routes will now have to present a valid passport. The change represents a tightening of border control rules between the two territories.
