Benfica reached an agreement with Al Qadsiah, a club from Saudi Arabia, for the loan signing of Moroccan international left-back Souffian El Karouani, 25 years old. The operation is practically concluded and should be officialized soon. During the loan until the end of the season, the two clubs will split the payment of the player's salary.
Benfica's board managed to secure a purchase option in the agreement, with a value expected to be around 10 million euros. This clause allows Benfica to keep the player permanently after the loan period.
El Karouani has already arrived in Lisbon, where he landed late Sunday night. At the airport, the player showed himself very enthusiastic about the transfer, stating that he had the opportunity to return to Europe and that Benfica is one of the biggest clubs on the continent.
The player also expressed the desire to win titles and have a good season with the Portuguese club, emphasizing that Benfica is a club that has the obligation to win and that he did not need to think twice before accepting the proposal.
