The National Unit for Foreigners and Borders (UNEF) of the PSP completed its first year of activity with approximately 700 detentions related to border control and the inspection of foreign citizens in Portugal. This police unit was created to reinforce surveillance at the borders and ensure compliance with immigration laws in the country. The detentions mentioned include cases related to the irregular entry of foreign citizens and other offenses linked to illegal stay in Portuguese territory.
