The Municipal Secretary of Environment and Climate (SMAC) reopened the Municipal Natural Park of Serra do Mendanha, located in Bangu, in Rio de Janeiro's West Zone, this Sunday. The park had been closed for renovations since January 2025 and is now available again to the public.
One of the main renovated attractions is the natural water pool, which had its floor waterproofed and coating redone. The park also features a children's playground, equipped with a slide, swing and climbing structure, as well as a set of bicycle racks.
To serve visitors, the site has a drinking fountain, three bathrooms and a changing station. The main access to the park is at Estrada da Caixinha, 100, in Bangu, and operating hours are Tuesday through Sunday, from 9am to 5pm.
