The General Personal Data Protection Law (LGPD), in force since 2020, classifies patients' health information — such as diagnoses and exam results — as sensitive data.

This information is considered sensitive because it reveals private conditions of individuals, thus requiring reinforced protection at all stages of processing.

Reinforced protection applies from the collection to the sharing of this data, covering the entire processing cycle of patients' health information.
