Jet fuel cost deepens TAP losses to 99.2 million in the semester

Público31 August 2026 at 07:15

TAP recorded losses of 99.2 million euros in the first half, a worsening compared to the same period last year. The Portuguese airline attributes this negative result to the significant increase in jet fuel costs.

The air carrier states that the rise in fuel prices "was felt immediately in operating costs". In contrast, the mitigation measures implemented at the revenue level "tend to materialize more gradually", which explains the gap between the immediate impact on costs and the slower response at the revenue level.
