Martifer will receive 20 million euros for the contract it won to carry out works at Humberto Delgado Airport, in Lisbon. ANA - Aeroportos de Portugal awarded to Martifer Metallic Constructions, through Martifer, a construction contract that includes steel structure, roofing and facade work, as part of the expansion of Portela airport. The intervention covers the south apron, the south pier and the central pier, encompassing the south parking and aircraft assistance area and the south and central boarding areas of the largest Portuguese terminal.
The contract includes approximately 17,700 square meters of facades, 3,924 tons of steel structure and 45,000 square meters of cladding. The works will be carried out in consortium with Blocotelha, responsible for the structure and roofing, and with Facal, specialized in facades. Among this trio, the 20 million refers only to Martifer's share. The company led by Pedro Duarte, headquartered in Oliveira de Frades, considers that this project reinforces its participation in works of high technical complexity and national impact.
Martifer Metallic Constructions, the main company of the Martifer group, is dedicated to steel construction, metalworking and aluminum and glass facade construction. In addition to the award in Lisbon, this subsidiary has already completed several international airport projects, namely in Marseille, Geneva and Dublin, which range between 35 and 45 million euros. The partner Facal, from Santo Tirso, specialized in facade engineering, has recorded annual growth in business volume, which in 2025 was 12.2 million euros, riding on the construction of exteriors in France. Blocotelha, from Porto de Mós, employs more than 300 people and has revenues exceeding 94.2 million euros.
In the first six months of this year, Martifer had losses of 7.9 million euros, a decline compared to the profits of eight million euros recorded in the same period of 2025, due to the establishment of provisions. The net result was penalized by the establishment of estimated charges worth 11 million euros, related to the "Glasgow Arena" project, which involved a provision of approximately 10.4 million euros following a court settlement reached by Martifer UK Limited, and the "Amazonia Arena" project, which involved a provision increase of 600 thousand euros resulting from the currency update of interest.
