João Robalo Martins is the new business director for BlackRock's Portuguese market. Operating from Madrid, the executive will lead the activities of the largest asset manager in Portugal, being responsible for executing the company's commercial strategy, deepening client relationships, and growing BlackRock's investment platform.
The company describes Portugal as one of the markets with the greatest long-term growth potential in Southern Europe. The new head of the US asset manager's operations in Portugal will focus on expanding the distribution area, increasing market share, and strengthening BlackRock's leadership position in the Portuguese market.
João Robalo Martins is transitioning from peer firm Pimco, where he spent nine years. Recently, he led the firm's activities in Portugal and managed strategic accounts and segregated mandates in Spain.
The new head begins his duties on August 31, ensuring continuity of the company's commercial strategy in Portugal, maintaining the focus on client proximity and long-term market development.
