Monaco took sole leadership of the French football League today by beating Marseille 2-0 at home in the closing match of the second round of the competition. The Monegasque side, classified in seventh place in 2025/26, now have six points after two consecutive wins.
The young German forward Paris Brunner was the hero of the victory, scoring two goals in the 13th and 54th minutes of play. Last season, Brunner failed to score any goals in Ligue 1, showing great evolution at the start of this season.
The young Portuguese international Flavio Nazinho, trained at Sporting, was a starter for the hosts playing as left-back. The Portuguese player completed the 90 minutes in the match.
With this result, Monaco consolidates their position at the top of the Ligue 1 standings, while Marseille suffers their first defeat in the competition.
