German Chancellor Friedrich Merz announced that Germany will respond in the coming days to the hybrid attack at Leipzig airport, in a coordinated reaction with the European Union and NATO. Merz stated during the traditional summer interview with German public broadcaster ARD that investigations are almost complete and there is broad consensus in the Government on how to respond. The Chancellor added that the response will be clearly expressed in the coming days, noting that the process will not take much longer. The attack has been attributed to Russia, fitting into a broader pattern of hybrid actions that several Western countries have been facing.
