Paredes and Marco advance in the Portuguese Cup

The Portuguese Cup left only two teams from the region in the competition after the 1st round. Among Paredes, Rebordosa, Vila Meã, Marco 09 and Paços de Ferreira, only USC Paredes and AD Marco 09 advance.

Paredes confirmed their favoritism by winning 3-1 away at Ermesinde 1936, a team from the district championships. Marco 09 also secured passage by defeating SC Régua 1-0 away. Both teams play in Liga 3.

Vila Meã was eliminated by Maia Lidador on penalties, after a goalless draw at the end of extra time. Rebordosa fell to Alpendorada 4-5 on penalties, after a 2-2 in extra time. Paços de Ferreira had been eliminated on Saturday, losing at home to Fafe 0-1 after extra time.

In the 2nd round, scheduled for September, Paredes will host Maria da Fonte and Marco 09 faces Maia Lidador, precisely the team that eliminated Vila Meã from the competition.
