A 20-year-old young man was detained in Maia on suspicion of killing his stepfather. The detention was carried out by the Judicial Police.

According to the evidence gathered, the suspect and the victim are believed to have had a disagreement. Following this conflict, the young man allegedly used a bladed weapon to strike blows to the victim's chest and abdominal area.

Group of 20 people rescued from the sea after windstorm hits crossing participants in Barra da Tijuca

Twenty people, among swimmers and stand up paddle practitioners, were rescued by the 2nd Maritime Group of the Fire Department this Sunday in Barra da Tijuca, in Rio de Janeiro. The group, composed of 13 men and seven women aged between 20 and 67, was making a crossing heading to the islands Tijuca, Alfavaca, Pontuda and do Meio when they were surprised by a change in wind direction, which dragged them away from the planned route toward São Conrado. One of the participants managed to call the firefighters at number 193, and nine military personnel were mobilized using two jet skis to carry out the rescue.
