The city of Berlin is being targeted by an extortion attempt after a computer attack compromised municipal systems. The hackers responsible for the attack are demanding a ransom of two million euros to not disclose the stolen data.
The attack allowed the attackers to steal several terabytes of data from the city's authorities. The situation was described as Berlin being "hostage" to the cybercriminals, who threaten to publish the information if the ransom is not paid.
