At least 14 buses were hijacked on Saturday night in the Itanhangá and Jacarepaguá region, in Rio de Janeiro's West Zone. The bandits drove the vehicles across streets to create barricades in areas of Muzema, Curicica, Gardênia Azul, and Taquara.
The hijackings reportedly occurred amid territorial disputes in the region. Social media posts report that shots were fired during the confrontations. One of the shootouts took place in the locality known as Regatas, in Muzema, while another occurred near Sertão, close to the border between Rio das Pedras and Muzema.
According to the article, the community of Muzema is controlled by a militia. In one of the images released, three vehicles can be seen driven across a street.
