Bad weather: Municipality of Leiria concludes analysis of 10,807 applications received

The Municipality of Leiria concluded today the analysis of the 10,807 applications received for the support made available by the Regional Coordination and Development Commission (CCDR). The applications concern the support to address the damages caused by bad weather.

The high number of applications received reflects the extent of the damage caused by adverse weather conditions in the municipality. The Leiria city council proceeded with the analysis of all applications within the established timeframe.

The CCDR was the entity responsible for making these financial support available for the affected municipalities. The application and analysis process was successfully concluded by the municipality of Leiria.

From agrotourism to the old Soap Factory: Crato reinforces tourism offer

The municipality of Crato, in the Alto Alentejo, presented three tourism projects to reinforce and diversify the accommodation offer in the region: Herdade da Rocha, in Aldeia da Mata, with villas and suites; the old Soap Factory, which will be converted into a four-star rural hotel with 49 units; and Casas Monte Crato Agrotourism & Spa, with 18 accommodation units planned for 2027. The investments were presented on August 25 with the presence of the Secretary of State for Tourism, Pedro Machado, and are part of a CCDR Alentejo strategy to boost tourism in the region through the enhancement of historical heritage, nature and local products.

Budget is under heavy pressure due to the end of the RRP

Pedro Dominguinhos, president of the National Monitoring Commission for the RRP, assesses in an interview that Portugal should meet the targets and milestones agreed with Brussels, although with different impacts from those initially planned. He advocated that it is necessary to reflect on planning, public procurement, and litigation mechanisms to improve the effectiveness of public investments.
