STOP responds to salary return requests from school senior technicians

Braga TV29 August 2026 at 20:48

The Union of All Education Professionals (STOP) is contesting requests for the return of thousands of euros directed at some senior technicians working in schools. The amounts in question are related to the 2017/18 performance evaluation biennium.

According to STOP, the situation results from errors or interpretations on the part of the Agency for the Management of the Education System. This agency allegedly made errors in how it processed or interpreted the data related to the performance evaluation of senior technicians.

The affected senior technicians are receiving notifications to return amounts they allegedly received improperly during the period in question. The union argues that the responsibility for errors not attributable to the workers should not fall on them.

The Geography of Talent: Where Will Economists Make the Difference?

This article analyzes the geography of talent in Portugal and the role of economists in a globalized labor market. Based on Richard Florida's "3T's" model (Technology, Talent, and Tolerance), the author argues that Lisbon, Porto, and the Algarve are the main poles attracting qualified professionals, while vast regions of the interior face a "development trap" that perpetuates youth emigration and underdevelopment. The article calls for a political agenda that goes beyond creating technology hubs, investing in conditions that retain people: affordable housing, quality public services, and tolerance. Economists are called upon to lead the construction of these environments, making a difference both in decision-making centers and in low-density territories.
