The Iniciativa Liberal (IL) considered that the Portuguese middle class was abandoned by the main Portuguese parties, PS and PSD, and is currently "under attack". The accusation was launched by the leader of the liberal party at the event that marks the traditional "rentrée" of the IL.
The president of the liberals spoke in Quarteira, in the Algarve, where she took the opportunity to criticize the way the majority parties treat different groups of citizens. According to the IL leader, "where there are votes, there are promises", but "where there are fewer votes, there is contempt" on the part of these political forces.
The party leader warned that currently "nobody speaks" or "seriously defends" the Portuguese middle class, leaving this segment of the population without effective political representation. This criticism is part of IL's strategy to position itself as an alternative to traditional parties.
The event in Quarteira marked the return of Iniciativa Liberal's political activity after the summer period, serving as a platform for the liberal leader to present her main ideological flags and criticisms of the national political landscape.
