An off-duty military police officer was shot in the head on Friday night during a robbery on Marginal Tietê in São Paulo. The victim was identified as Paulo Roberto Lima Pereira, 44.
The Civil Police are investigating whether the officer was a victim of a gang that spreads rocks on the road to damage vehicles and force drivers to stop, facilitating the approach by criminals hiding on the roadside.
The officer was driving a black Volkswagen Jetta when one of his tires went flat and he stopped on the left shoulder of Marginal Tietê, heading toward Rodovia Castelo Branco, near the Ayrton Senna Highway exit and Ponte Domingos Franciulli Neto, in the Parque Novo Mundo area.
According to the police report, a traffic engineering agent (CET) who was passing by spotted the situation and called for help.
