The National Republican Guard (GNR) is warning about a scam involving the simulation of traffic accidents that is causing increasingly high losses to victims. Only in the first months of the year, authorities have already recorded several cases of this type of scam in different regions of the country.
The scammers approach victims, usually drivers, simulating that they have suffered an accident caused by the targeted person. They then demand immediate financial compensation or pressure victims to hand over their bank cards and corresponding PINs, under the threat of calling the authorities or of staging the accident in a more serious manner.
The GNR recommends that citizens do not hand over money or bank cards in similar situations and that they immediately contact the relevant authorities. The security forces are investigating several cases and are warning the public to be vigilant about this type of approach.
