Club suspends flights in São Conrado after colonel dies in hang glider crash

The São Conrado Free Flight Club suspended flights on Saturday after the death of Army colonel Álvaro Roberto Cruz Ferreira Lima, 63, who fell from a hang glider into the sea at São Conrado Beach, in Rio's South Zone. The military officer was rescued by firefighters in cardiac arrest but did not survive his injuries. Family members went to the Medical Examiner's Office and declined to give interviews. Off-duty PM officer killed on Marginal Tietê in attack attributed to gang that uses rocks to rob drivers

An off-duty military police officer was shot in the head on Friday night (28) on Marginal Tietê in São Paulo during a robbery. Paulo Roberto Lima Pereira, 44, was driving a Volkswagen Jetta when one of his tires was punctured by rocks allegedly thrown by criminals on the road, forcing him to stop on the shoulder. The Civil Police are investigating whether he was a victim of a gang that uses rocks to damage vehicles and facilitate robberies of drivers on the roadside.
