The Maritime Police of the Local Command of Setúbal recently seized a recreational vessel with Polish flag that was anchored in the Palma channel, in the municipality of Alcácer do Sal. The operation was carried out by officers of that police authority.
The vessel was equipped with engines that showed signs of tampering. The authorities identified these irregularities during the inspection carried out at the location where the vessel was anchored.
The action falls within the competencies of the Maritime Police regarding the inspection and regulation of maritime and river activities, including the control of vessels operating in waters under Portuguese jurisdiction.
No information has been released regarding any arrests or other legal consequences arising from this seizure.
