'Earthquake' in Bundesliga: debutant beats Bayer Leverkusen

SAPO Notícias29 August 2026 at 16:29

Elversberg achieved a historic victory in their Bundesliga debut, defeating Bayer Leverkusen 3-2. The result represents a major surprise at the start of the German first division season, considering that Leverkusen is a traditionally strong team in the championship.

The match was played at Elversberg's own stadium, which memorably celebrated its first appearance among Germany's football elite. The visiting team, known as "the pharmacists" due to their sponsor, failed to react in time and ended up defeated.

At the same time, RB Leipzig began the new season with a convincing performance, securing victory over Borussia Monchengladbach. The team demonstrated strength and favoritism right at the opening of the German championship.

Both matches are part of the Bundesliga's opening round, 2024/2025 season, and already indicate an exciting start for the German competition.
